BMW Announces Two Vehicle Debuts

January 18th, 2018 by

Late last month, BMW reported that the all-new 2018 X2 crossover SUV and 2019 i8 Coupe will make their global debuts at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Both highly-anticipated vehicles are expected to be released for purchase later this spring.

The 2018 BMW X2 SUV showcases a sporty, athletic exterior and a new take on the kidney-shaped grille. Powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower turbo 4-cylinder engine that pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the X2 can make 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The X2 also offers standard all-wheel drive, delivering a greater sense of control in inclement weather.

The 2019 BMW i8 Coupe is a two-door, sports car that seats four. The plug-in hybrid delivers an all-electric range of 18 miles — a 30 percent improvement over the current model — and enjoys a gain of 12 horsepower compared to the current model. With the ability to make 369 horsepower, the i8 Coupe can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and boasts a top speed of 155 mph.

Prices for each model should be revealed closer to their release. At BMW of Columbia, we're proud to serve drivers from the Lexington, Sumter, Irmo, Chapin and Camden areas.
