BMW Announces Positive U.S. January Sales Results
BMW recently reported that the company sold 19,016 vehicles in the United States last month, marking a 5 percent improvement over January 2017 sales figures. The month's results can be credited to consumer interest in BMW electrified vehicles and continued demand for BMW passenger cars and SAVs.
The BMW 5 Series enjoyed a seventh consecutive month of sales gains, returning a 227.9 percent gain over January 2017 sales on 2,456 vehicles sold. When breaking the 5 Series sales down, just about 10 percent were attributed to the BMW 530e iPerformance plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
The BMW X4 SAV gained 83.4 percent in sales for the month, and the X6 SAV grew sales by 24.7 percent as compared to last January's sales.
Interestingly, BMW electrified vehicles — which include the BMW i3, i8 and iPerformance models — represented more than 5 percent of BMW models sold in the United States during January.
In a press release, Bernhard Kuhnt, President and CEO, BMW of North America, declared, "Our newest products continue to be very well received by consumers, which has helped us carry the momentum that we created in 2017 into 2018 and given us a great start to the New Year. We have many new products to launch in 2018, starting with the first-ever, and much anticipated BMW X2 which will begin appearing on showroom floors later this month for its sales debut in early March."
