What’s New in the 2020 BMW X6

Still Turning Heads

In April 2008, the BMW X6 made its debut in dealerships around the world, claiming its title of “the first SUV coupe,” and turned heads with its unusual, intriguing design. More than 10 years later, the 2020 BMW X6 enters its third generation and is more stylish and athletic than ever.

Since its launch, X6 models have sold like hotcakes, with more than 443,000 units sold around the globe. The 2020 BMW X6 intends to come in strong with its all-new design. Differing from the 2019 model, the new 2020 X6 is one inch longer and sits on a 1.6-inch wider wheelbase. It sits more than three-quarters of an inch lower and features a new muscular look. Upfront, the 2020 BMW X6 displays an edgy, futuristic fascia with a large, angular take on BMW’s signature kidney grille that now, for the first time, can be illuminated as an option. The rear gets a muscular, aggressive treatment with sleek LED taillights and dynamic fenders. A large darkened diffuser and repositioned license plate add complexity to the rear end, while also adding intriguing style.

Sexy on the Inside

The cabin of the 2020 BMW X6 is nearly identical to its X5 brother. Plush leather surrounds the cabin, and a plethora of luxury features make commutes a joy. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster matches the 12.3-inch touchscreen display that sits above the modern dashboard. Up above, a massive panoramic glass roof is standard, while an illuminated Sky Lounge glass roof is available.

This Sports Activity Coupe® (SAV) also comes with a generous list of standard features, including heated front seats, automatic climate control, active dampers and a list of active safety features like blindspot warning and lane-departure warning. Staying true to its luxury status, the 2020 BMW X6 offers a list of available features, like a Head-Up Display, massaging seats, night vision and a long list of other fancy features.

Performance that Speaks for Itself

Under the hood of the 2020 BMW X6 sDRIVE40i is a standard 3.0L turbocharged inline-six that generates 335 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. Paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission that comes in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, this SAV launches from 0-60 MPH in just 5.2 seconds.

Kicking the thrill up a notch, the 2020 BMW X6 M50i features a 4.4L turbocharged V8 that puts out an exhilarating 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Paired to a quick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission and putting power to all four wheels, the turbocharged V8 rockets from 0-60 MPH in just 4.1 seconds. Both the six- and eight-cylinder options offer exhilarating performance, tight handling and dynamic efficiency.
