How does the 2018 BMW 530i Measure up to the 2018 Infiniti Q50? Read on.

It can be quite a task, trying to decide between luxury vehicles. They're all handsome, feature the up-to-date technology you want, and tend to be exquisitely crafted. To help you with your research, we decided to compare the 2018 530i sedan to another vehicle in its class, the Infiniti Q50. While both cars are available in a variety of trim levels and offer several powertrain options, we wanted to choose vehicles that were alike in order to make a fair comparison.

Let's get this out of the way: the 530i does have a higher Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price than the Infiniti. Of course, it also comes with generations of German engineering know-how in its very core. Though the interior passenger space is quite similar in measurements, the 530i offers a wider, longer and taller exterior than does the Infiniti. In spite of that extra size, the 530i delivers the better fuel efficiency of the two. The BMW is rated to deliver an estimated 24 city/34 highway/27 combined fuel economy, with the Infiniti rated for 22 city/28 highway/24 combined. Over time, the savings you'll realize from filling up less often can make quite a difference.

Both sedans feature a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine, but the 530i engine has twin turbochargers rather than a single one. Once you hit the road, you'll discover that the 248 horsepower made by the BMW 530i easily outpaces the Q50's 208. One other difference in this drivetrain? The 530i marries its engine to an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the Infiniti partners its to a 7-speed automatic.

The 530i offers you 18.7 cubic feet of cargo capacity in the trunk, providing you with much more room than the Q50's 13.2 cubic feet.

Lastly, the 530i offers the peace-of-mind that comes with knowing that you enjoy four years of Roadside Assistance, which the Infiniti does not offer.
