2018 BMW X3: Better, Faster & More Efficient Than Ever

If you think you know the BMW X3, think again. For the 2018 model year, BMW set their engineers on a mission: Build a better and faster BMW X3.

The all-new 2018 BMW X3, now available for sale or lease at BMW of Columbia, comes in 2 trims and offers a host of new features, equipment and, for the first time, an M performance model.

BMW engineers began the redesign by extending the wheelbase of the new BMW X3 by more than 2-inches and giving it a bit of a nose job in an effort to achieve a near perfect front/rear weight distribution.

Engineers and designers then went to work on its engine and interior, adding a series of tech and safety features and engine improvements. To see or test-drive the 2018 BMW X3 xDrive30i or the BMW X3 M40i, visit BMW of Columbia in Columbia, SC today.

BMW's Legendary Handling Is BMW X3's Star Attraction

Unlike the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the all-new, standard all-wheel drive new BMW X3 gives motorists a more engaging and thrilling drive. In the 2018 BMW X3 xDrive30i, owners will love the handling its 248-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 engine provides.

Those who want more power and performance can get it in the M40i. This trim features a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine that generates 355-horsepower (55 more horses than the 2017 model), rockets from 0-60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 mph.

The base engine gets an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, resulting in 25 combined MPG - better than its competitors.

The new BMW X3 tows up to 4,400 pounds and, for the first time, both trims can now be equipped with a factory-installed trailer hitch.

More Interior Comfort & Tech

Inside the 2018 BMW X3, drivers will love the new 3-zone climate control, available front ventilated seats and a panoramic moonroof that's 9.8-inches longer than before - making the vehicle's interior feel downright palatial.

Tech-wise, the new BMW X3 takes a great leap forward, offering a full-color heads-up display that's 75% larger than the 2017 model. The 2018 BMW X3 also features a massive 10.25-inch touchscreen with gesture control (a first), navigation, ambient lighting, a WiFi hotspot for up to 10 devices and the new ParkNow, a service that helps new BMW X3 drivers locate open parking spaces and even pay for spots in advance.

BMW X3 Is Safer Than Ever

In addition to the standard Active Protection pre-collision accident-detection system, which tightens seatbelts and closes windows and the moonroof if the 2018 BMW X3 detects an impending collision, there is also an Intelligent Emergency Call system that alerts authorities to the site of a crash.

The new BMW X3 also features 2 optional safety packages with the latest driver assistance and collision avoidance technologies. These features include blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and more.
